One Week Girlfriend: A Novel

One Week Girlfriend: A Novel Breakout sensation Monica Murphy takes the New Adult genre by storm with the deeply emotional, completely addicting story of Drew and Fable.   Temporary. That’s the word I’d use to describe my life right now. I’m temporarily working double shifts—at least until I can break free. I’m temporarily raising my little brother—since apparently our actual mother doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I always end up as nothing but the temporary girlfriend—the flavor of the week for every guy who’s heard the rumor that I give it up so easily. At least Drew Callahan, college football legend and local golden boy, is upfront about it. He needs someone to play the part of his girlfriend for one week. In exchange for cash. As if that’s not weird enough, ever since he brought me into his world, nothing really makes sense. Everyone hates me. Everyone wants something from him. And yet the only thing Drew seems to want is . . . me. I don’t know what to believe anymore. Drew is sweet, sexy, and hiding way more secrets than I am. All I know is, I want to be there for him—permanently.

Intriguing Plot Twist!!, January 12, 2013

**ARC copy provided by author for honest review**

As you have probably gathered from the summary for this book, Drew is hiding something. I mean how can he not be! A hunky college football quarterback looking to pay a girl he doesn’t even know to be his pretend girlfriend for a week? Yeah something doesn’t add up.

Fable…let me just say I love the uniqueness of her name!..is not interested in entertaining Drew’s offer. Well at least not until he names the amount he is willing to pay her. There is no way she can turn this down when she is struggling to make ends meet as it is. But Fable is no fool. She knows early on there is more going on than Drew is willing to disclose. And she is okay with that…for now.

Since this whole relationship is a fake, Drew and Fable work out the details of how they met, how long they have been together, etc. on the 4 hour drive to his parents home. Things are awkward to say the least seeing as how they barely know one another. But Fable is determined to make this work and be the best fake girlfriend she can be! So she comes up with a plan to save Drew if he should need to be rescued for any reason. They will have a safe word. One that can be spoken or he can text when he needs her.

    Marshmallow…

As soon as they arrive at his parents home in Carmel, you quickly sense the tension. Fable questions her sanity for agreeing to this and Drew wonders why he so willing dragged an innocent bystander into this mess. As the days passes and we get to see some more of the interactions with Drew and his family, things become increasingly uncomfortable for both him and Fable. At the same time, that seems to push Drew and Fable closer together. Lines begin to blur. They both question the actions of the other. Is this all part of the charade or could there be more going on?

I guessed pretty early on what Drew was hiding. Do not let that fact scare you off though. It is not the only plot twist! And I totally did not see the others coming! This author has taken a story that has been done by many others but twisted it into something fresh and unique. I read this book in ones sitting because I could not stop until I knew what was going to happen! I am going to tell you up front this is another one of those cliff hanger books. So, prepare yourself to be left wanting more…

    THIS BOOK!

    THIS BOOK!

    JUST BROKE MY HEART

After reading this book I was roaming around completely depressed for almost a day !

The fact that this book managed to touch my heart and make me count my blessings just shows what an amazing book this is! Yes, this book has it’s faults but by the end I was fully invested and completely dejected because I had to wait to load book #2 onto my reading device. To tell you the truth I’m a little scared about what will happen in book #2 .

The characters Drew and Fable are dysfunctional, distressed, dangerous and pretty abnormal. They repress their true feelings and conform to society. When both of them come together , they experience a heavy cocktail of emotions which one of them finds hard to deal with.

Drew was a character that keeps you guessing. His emotions are bottled up and there’s a mysterious air around him. Drew can be a pretty frustrating character but all makes sense in the end.

Fable is a character I have mixed feelings about. She’s strong and opinionated but I wanted her to stand up for herself and slap some sense into people who kept calling her a slut.Maybe she’ll do that in book #2?

Ms.Murphy make her slap some rude people PLEASE!

I can’t give too many specifics about the story without giving away spoilers but I’ll just say that the story is engaging and there is a twist.

The stepmom in this book is so creepy that she makes Disney stepmom’s look like amazing stepmothers. I really did not like her. It’s been a long time since I hated a character so much!

Overall ,I urge everyone to PICK UP THIS BOOK right now (unless, you’re not into romance and can’t stand a novel that’s a little depressing) It’s worth the $1.

    I really liked this book.

I was very curious why a hot good looking football player was paying someone to pretend to be his girlfriend. However once he took Fable home it was very clear why.

His step mom Adele is nuts and his dad is hard on him and always pushing him to make goals and plans. Drew has a troubled past that stems from his being at home. His lost his sister Vanessa and he hasn’t been home since then. But he is coming home this year for thanksgiving and he needs a girlfriend so he hires Fable since she is know the sleep around and has a bad rep.

But the more time they spend together neither of them can determine whether the feelings are real or fake.

Can Fable save him or is Drew a lost cause.

Excellent writing and can’t wait for book 2! Love the rescue word Marshmallow :0)
